The geodetic contribution to the Building Information Model (BIM) comprises up to now the geo-information concerning the spatial, textual and structural information of the building ground, the old and planned buildings and the environment. Besides that BIM contains the quantity and properties of building elements, cost estimates, material inventories and the project schedule.

The measurement methods of “laser Scan” and “gliding photogrammetry” are coming up at the right time and give BIM an additional impact. Now the gliding control of the building during the construction period is getting economic and technically workable, comparing the actual with the target state or with any state before. Lasers Scan does not need any instrument set up and the pictures mostly are taken from the drone. Both methods produce a future living point cloud, which can be linked with any other state of the construction.
